Classes
Tyler Junior College and Gene Ruelle first pioneered an antique restoration course that was held at the TJC's West Campus. The course offered hands on experience on restoring, repairing and caring for antique furniture. It also included how to identify finishes, chemical composition and their effects on wood and antique furniture. Each student was allowed to bring one project to work on either to restore, revive or refinish. The last class covered a variety of projects from a Victorian parlor table to a steering wheel from a 1979 Porsche. This class is now offered only in a seminar setting held on location at Ruelle's. Call Gene @ 903 595-2176 for the next seminar.Presently being offered at the TJC West Campus is a course on "The History of Antique Furniture and Appraising". Do you know what kind of table was named after an insect or what the Golden Era was? If you would like to find out more about the history, style and periods of antique furniture or what it takes to become a certified appraiser, this is the class for you. Also discussed is how to prepare your estate for equitable distribution and cataloging your possessions. Call Gene Ruelle for more details @ 903 595-2176.
